2. Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) Medical School (4 years)

• Preclinical Years (first 2 years): Core medical sciences including anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and podiatric biomechanics.
   

• Clinical Years (last 2 years): Clerkship rotations in internal medicine, surgery, podiatric surgery, orthopedics, diabetic foot care, and more.
  
  International students may apply for an F-1 visa, with some programs offering advantages to those holding a U.S. undergraduate degree.

A Podiatrist (Doctor of Podiatric Medicine, DPM) is a licensed physician specializing in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of conditions affecting the foot, ankle, and lower extremities. They undergo full medical training and hold independent practice rights in the U.S., comparable to MDs and DOs.

足踝科医生（DPM，全称 Doctor of Podiatric Medicine）是美国医疗体系中负责诊断、治疗和预防脚部、踝关节及下肢相关疾病的专科医生。他们接受完整的医学训练，拥有独立行医权，在职业地位和执业权限上与内科医生、外科医生（MD/DO）基本等同。

Podiatrists may:

• Diagnose and treat conditions such as flatfoot, Achilles tendonitis, bunions, diabetic foot, and neuropathies.
   

• Perform foot and ankle surgeries, including corrective procedures, fracture repair, and joint replacement.
   

• Prescribe medications and interpret imaging studies (X-ray, MRI).
   

• Provide rehabilitation plans such as orthotics and gait training.
   

• Collaborate with other specialties including orthopedics, internal medicine, and dermatology.
